Book Review: The Handmaid’s Tale

I recently read “The Handmaid’s Tale” by Margaret Atwood. Must I say, I loved it! Just like every book there are things I didn’t love, but I gave it a 5/5 on Goodreads.

For what’s going on today, I think it’s a must read. It has a lot of elements that make it really relateable. Women’s roles. Society. Government. Religion. Things of that nature.

Things I loved

  • Story theme
  • Religious connections
  • Easy to read
  • Keeps you interested the whole way through

Things I didn’t love.

  • The ending (and that’s all I’m saying)

I can’t really touch on what I didn’t like, because it’ll give the story away. (This is more of a personal preference if anything.)

What’s the book about? The book is set during a time where women’s roles in society have taken a 180 (compared to today). Due to this, some women are forced into the roll of carrying and giving birth to higher class people’s children. These higher class people are usually older and cannot have children themselves. The women are watched at almost every point of their day. Rules are strict to keep the women in line. All of this comes crashing down to an ending you won’t want to miss.
